Terry Hay of New Zealand served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. After attending the University of California at Irvine, Terry Hay of New Zealand went into business for himself, and discovered he had a genuine knack for it.
Terry Hay of New Zealand has started several businesses during the course of his career. The first was a small, two-person health food distribution company. Terry Hay of New Zealand ran the Kamaaina Distribution Company in Hawaii for ten years and watched it thrive. Then he decided the time had come to sell it, and retired at the age of forty.
But Terry Hay of New Zealand was not built for retirement at such a young age. “Failed,” he says now, flatly. “Too much day time TV.” He decided he still had something to offer. “Started a business in New Zealand called Fresh Developments that made salads for the super markets,” he recalls. “Expanded that business to 35 persons and then sold it.”
In 1996, Terry Hay of New Zealand bought an existing flight catering business that employed three hundred people. “Lots of downturns in the airline business, but we survived,” he says. Pacific Flight Catering Limited, as Terry Hay of New Zealand’s business was called, provided in-flight catering services for international airlines in New Zealand. Services included menu development, production, waste disposal, equipment storage and management, and bonded goods management.
Terry Hay of New Zealand retired for a second time in 2008, settling again in Hawaii. Instead of watching too much TV, Terry Hay of New Zealand keeps himself busy with consulting work to food businesses.
